Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 10, 2026

BackyardCheck helps homeowners check whether they can build an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) on their property. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it.

What we collect

The property address you enter, the resulting zoning verdict and estimate, and — if you choose to unlock a detailed report or ask to be notified about coverage — your email address.

How we use it

To return your feasibility verdict and cost/rent estimate, to send the report or coverage updates you request, and to improve the accuracy of our zoning data over time. We do not sell your personal information.

Data retention & security

We retain check and contact records to operate and improve the service. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest with our hosting provider.

Your choices

You may request access to or deletion of your information by emailing us. Estimates are informational only and are not legal or permitting advice; verify with the City of Los Angeles before making decisions.
